Pakistan's former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, used an AI-generated voice clone to campaign from prison.

His party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), used AI firm ElevenLabs' technology to generate a four-minute speech for a "virtual rally", despite internet disruptions. The AI voice was based on a shorthand script sent by Khan, which was transformed into his rhetorical style.

The AI-generated speech was broadcast as part of a five-hour live stream on Facebook and YouTube. PTI, known for its innovative use of social media, claims this move was necessary due to Khan's imprisonment. The virtual rally reportedly reached over 4.5 million viewers.
