Anthropic activates Claude's Excel integration for all Pro subscribers
Update –
- Claude in Excel now available for all Pro subscribers
Update from January 24, 2026:
The Excel integration of Anthropic's AI assistant Claude was previously only available to selected users. The company has now activated the function for all Pro subscribers.
In addition to the wider availability, there are also functional improvements: Claude now accepts multiple files via drag-and-drop, avoids overwriting existing cells and supports longer work sessions thanks to automatic compression.
The integration makes it possible to use Claude directly in Microsoft Excel for analysis and preparation tasks. The add-in is available via the Microsoft Marketplace.
Article from October 27, 2025:
Anthropic brings new financial functions to Claude
Anthropic is adding new functions to Claude for the financial sector: An Excel extension, additional data connections and predefined AI skills are designed to support analysts with tasks such as cash flow models and valuation comparisons. Claude for Excel, based on Sonnet 4.5, is available as a beta version for certain business customers and can analyze, edit and comment on tables.
New data connections provide access to real-time information from providers such as Moody's, LSEG and Aiera. Six new agent functions enable due diligence evaluations and company analyses, among other things.
This puts Anthropic in competition with similar functions from Microsoft with Copilot or ChatGPT. None of these systems are known to have a clear error rate in the context of everyday office work. Although reasoning models have recently made progress in mathematical tasks, they are still probability-based systems and can (and will) make mistakes.
