GPT-5 is "better at everything across the board," says OpenAI CEO Sam Altman
Commenting on GPT-5 at the World Government Summit, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the new model will be "smarter" and perhaps faster and more multimodal. Altman emphasized that it is the generality of the model that makes it "so magical" and "a little bit better at everything," not just one task. Altman did not comment on a possible release date. He has previously said that it is technically difficult to predict the new capabilities of GPT-5. There are rumors that GPT-5 could be a multimodal AI model called "Gobi," which is scheduled for release in spring 2024 and is currently being trained on a massive dataset.
