The UK government is investing £100 million to build a national AIresource, ordering key components from major chipmakers Nvidia, AMD and Intel. However, an official claims the investment is far too low compared to the EU, US, and China. The funding includes an advanced order of up to 5,000 graphics processing units from Nvidia, which are crucial for AI processing. The UK accounts for just 0.5% of global semiconductor sales and could be left behind by weak investment in the race for AI chip technology amid growing geopolitical tensions, according to The Guardian.
