Spotify is launching a new AI-powered feature for Premium users in the UK and Australia: You can now create personalized playlists using text prompts.

Spotify is currently testing a new feature that allows users to create personalized playlists using text commands. The feature, called AI Playlist, is initially available to Spotify Premium users in the UK and Australia on Android and iOS devices.

In your library, you'll find a prompt interface where you can enter text for genre, mood, artist, decade, or any combination of these. You can also reference locations, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, or emoji.

The AI then generates a playlist that matches your desired mood or situation. Spotify's prompt examples include "an indie folk playlist that gives my brain a big warm hug," "relaxing music that keeps me happy during allergy season," or "a playlist that makes me feel like the main character."

Once the playlist is created, you can customize the selection by listening to and deleting songs. You can also add comments to further refine the playlist, such as "more pop" or "less upbeat. When you click "Create," the new playlist is automatically saved to your library.

Spotify is combining its personalization technology with artificial intelligence in "AI Playlist." The company stresses that the tool is still in beta and is not suitable for non-music-related suggestions, such as current events or specific brands. Offensive prompts will be blocked.

There is no word on when AI Playlist will be available in other countries. Spotify will continue to develop the new feature over the coming months, it says.
