Getty Images and Nvidia are expanding their partnership with Generative AI by iStock, a text-to-image platform for generating legally compliant stock photos. The platform is a standalone version of Getty's first AI image generator, Generative AI by Getty Images (see below), and is targeted at small and medium businesses.
As with Generative AI by Getty Images, Getty promises to generate "commercially safe" images. If things nevertheless go wrong, compensation for Generative AI by iStock is $10,000 per image. With Generative AI by Getty Images, it is unlimited.
Both services are based on Nvidia's Picasso model, which has been trained exclusively on Getty's creative library and iStock's stock photo library. The service will soon offer inpainting (changing the image content with text) and outpainting (expanding the image with text).
As usual, the model is prompted to create an image via a simple text prompt. The price is $14.99 for 100 prompts, with each prompt generating four images. iStock also offers its generative AI services via API.

Getty Images unveils generative image AI tool for "safe commercial use"
Getty Images introduces Generative AI by Getty Images, a "commercially safe generative AI tool". The tool is based on Nvidia's Picasso Foundry and has been trained exclusively on Getty Images' image library.
Getty Images, which is suing Stable Diffusion's Stability AI for copyright infringement, argues that its generative AI system responsibly extends the company's offerings by respecting creators' intellectual property through royalty-free licensing and financial participation from content creators.
Users can customize the generative AI tool with their data to create personalized images that reflect their brand's style and language. These and other features will be available later this year. The image generator can be activated on GettyImages.com or used via an API.
