With the advent of generative image AI, a new discipline is emerging: prompt engineering. Search engines like Krea provide inspiration.

Prompts are the short text descriptions that an image AI like DALL-E 2, Midjourney or Stable Diffusion uses to generate an image.

Often it is difficult to put the idea you have in mind into fitting words. Moreover, the AI may execute instructions differently than you want it to. And there are plenty of modifiers, for example for image cropping or style, that can lead to very different results for the otherwise same prompt.

Krea offers free prompt inspiration

Inspiration is therefore key to achieving better image results faster. Midjourney, the startup behind the image AI of the same name, anticipated this and therefore designed its own service as a Discord community from the outset. From here, users instruct the bot and can exchange ideas with other users at the same time. They can also see their creations and the associated prompts.

With Krea, there is now also a free search engine for AI images including the associated prompts. In addition to free text search, it offers guided search by modifiers such as different styles and genres. Thanks to a filter system, you can display similar motifs with different modifiers. This way you get a good impression of how the modifiers change the AI images.

When you find an image you like, you can copy the prompt or look for similar images and prompts. After logging in, you can also like and save select prompts.

Support for DALL-E 2 is in the works

Currently, the image and prompt search engine database includes more than 700,000 unique images created with Stable Diffusion and millions of prompts, according to the developers.

Support for other AI models such as DALL-E 2 and Craiyon is in the works. Krea is collecting more creative ideas for prompts on Github if you want to get involved in growing the database.

Lexica is another search engine specializing in stable diffusion. Again, you can search the database for images and prompts, copy the text snippets, and adopt them for your projects. Lexica also offers a reverse image search for AI images.
