More than 20 girls in the Spanish town of Almendralejo received AI-generated nude photos of themselves, sparking debate over whether deepfakes can be legally punished, Euronews reports. The images were reportedly altered using the app ClothOff ("Undress AI, Undress girl for free!") and shared in WhatsApp groups. The images don't show the girls' real bodies, but are still causing great distress to the victims, some of whom are as young as 11. The national police have launched an investigation and authorities are considering whether the images in circulation could be considered child pornography.
OpenAI is in talks with investors for a share sale that could value the startup behind ChatGPT at up to $90 billion, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The AI company, which is partially owned by Microsoft, has tripled its valuation since the beginning of the year and is on track to reach $1 billion in revenue this year, far exceeding expectations. The company is not looking to issue new shares. Instead, the deal would allow OpenAI and its employees to sell their existing shares, with OpenAI planning to sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stock. Microsoft's investment could see a massive return, and OpenAI is likely to raise more funds for computing costs to develop and maintain its AI systems.
