OpenAI has added new project management tools to ChatGPT for its Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers. The new feature allows users to group related chats, files, and custom tutorials into organized collections. Enterprise and education users will get access to Projects in January, with free users getting access later. The feature works similarly to GPTs, which OpenAI released about a year ago, and allows users to combine different elements in one workspace. Users can organize their chats into groups based on topics or contexts, and manage and save files directly within their projects. The system also supports custom instructions that can be applied to an entire project. ChatGPT's search and canvas tools are fully integrated into the Projects system. Users can access these features through both chatgpt.com and the Windows desktop application.

Google has released a new streaming API for its Gemini 2.0 multimodal model that enables real-time interactions through audio, video, and text. Developer Simon Willison demonstrated the technology in a one-minute iPhone video, showing a live conversation with Gemini about objects it could see through the camera. The API is now available in preview form for developers who want to test it, though some technical setup is required. The release comes as OpenAI introduced a similar capability for ChatGPT that lets the AI discuss smartphone video content in real-time.
OpenAI appears ready to release an updated version of its Sora video generator, according to statements made by OpenAI's Chad Nelson at C21Media in London (via Ruud van der Linden). The new version will include three generation methods: text to video, text and image to video, and text and video to video with a length of up to one minute. Recent API leaks have confirmed earlier rumors that the company has developed a faster, more efficient version of the AI video tool. The launch could happen during OpenAI's winter promotional event in December, possibly as early as next Monday. OpenAI might also announce GPT-4.5 and new image features for GPT-4o during its winter promotional event.
