Stability AI, the startup behind Stable Diffusion, has launched Uncrop, an AI-powered outpainting tool that allows users to change the dimensions of images by creating expanded backgrounds. Built on Stability AI's text-to-image model, Stable Diffusion XL, Uncrop reconstructs images and adjusts visual canvases similar to generative fill in Photoshop. The tool is available for free in the Clipdrop web application.
AI startup Cohere has raised $270 million in funding from investors including Nvidia, Oracle, and Salesforce. Cohere specializes in developing generative AI for businesses that securely handles sensitive company data, offering Large Language Models (LLMs) that can be tailored to customer needs. Founded by former members of Google's Brain Team, the company's language model is built on the Transformer architecture. Cohere now has offices in Toronto, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and London.
Salesforce introduces Marketing GPT and Commerce GPT, powered by the Salesforce Data Cloud and the Einstein GPT generative AI assistant, to enhance its Marketing Cloud and Commerce Cloud services.
Marketing GPT uses natural language prompts and AI-driven segment intelligence to improve the creation, delivery and analysis of personalized campaigns. Commerce GPT translates product descriptions for different audiences, with a focus on improving personalized shopping experiences. Available in summer 2023, these products reflect Salesforce's increased focus on putting AI at the core of its services.
Google Cloud has launched the Enterprise Search on Generative AI App Builder, a tool that enables organizations to build custom chatbots and semantic search applications.
The tool provides a scalable approach that can handle multimodal data and ground outputs in specific data sources for accuracy. Notable early adopter Mayo Clinic is testing the tool to facilitate fast and efficient interpretation of patient health data, such as medical history and genomic information. Spot, Boston Dynamic's mobile robotic inspection platform, now includes thermal monitoring, acoustic leak detection and gauge reading capabilities.
These new capabilities make it easier to perform critical industrial tasks and enable autonomous robots to augment the global workforce, according to the company. Improved inspection workflows help prevent costly equipment failures and unplanned downtime. Oh, and Spot can now use its arm to autonomously open doors during missions, allowing the robot to access new inspection routes and move between rooms unassisted.
